To the editor:

I wanted to take a moment to follow up with the Berlin community about the removal of the backboard (Eagle Scout project) at Horne Field. On May 22, a remorseful Mayor Robert Cone contacted me. The good mayor is a product of years of participation in Boy Scout Troop 207. He reached the rank of Life Scout and shared his life changing experiences as a Berlin Boy Scout. The molding allowed him to step up, take responsibility, and show grace in the face of a mistake made by the city ’s planning and management team.
