Diane Bouthot: Holiday packages “Keeping the Promise”

The American Legion Auxiliary Unit #82 annually sends Holiday Packages to our veterans who are currently serving overseas. Items that we are looking for assistance with are Ramen noodles, chap sticks, Q-tips, crossword puzzle books, beef jerky, oatmeal packages, White socks, individual flavored drink mix packages, trail mix and nuts, power bars or protein bars, wet ones, razors, card games, nerf balls, dice games, licorice, gum, just to name a few items. We will accept monetary donations also with the assistance of shipping the boxes. Currently it is $16.99 per box. On an average the boxes that are sent to the veteran has an approximate value of $60.00 per box. We normally send 25 to 30 boxes a year however we have sent up to 50 boxes. We have female veterans and would appreciate feminine items. We could also use some writing tablet paper and envelopes or cards that they can mail out to their families, non- breakable holiday ornaments.
