Recently, both Quddus Snyder and Tad Furtado (the latter whom I at least respect for being usually reasonable if not often right in his letters) dismissed the “Big Lie” as having “no basis in reality.” However, for something allegedly so obviously baseless as what they call the “Big Lie,” Snyder and Furtado (along with many other liberal-leaning commentators) simply can’t stop talking about it — even almost two years after the last presidential election. Indeed, the more they thus deny the “Big Lie,” the more they seem to validate it.
Part of the problem is identifying whose “Big Lie” is really at issue. While many Democrats and liberals define the “Big Lie” as the assertion or belief among Republicans and conservatives that the 2020 presidential election was fraudulent, many Republicans and conservatives conversely hold that same phrase to mean the assertion or belief among Democrats and liberals that the election was legitimate. Using the rhetorical term the “Big Lie” thus doesn’t move the debate ball an inch either way to begin with. It only inflames the situation.
Did you guys notice that Mar-a-Lago was raided by the FBI this afternoon. What that means, by the way, is that a Federal Judge found PROBABLE CAUSE that a crime was committed and that evidence of that crime was located there.
Jimmie - you're a lawyer - any comments about that? MEPD (Anonymous) did you ever execute a search warrant issued without such a finding?
JBurnham is right to call out MEPD's veil of secrecy. I've made a point of pointing out Jim Pietrangelo's history as a vexatious litigant, because it speaks to his lack of credibility. He takes crazy positions in his pro se litigation and carries those insanities to the highest court. LIke MEPD, he takes wacko positions, but you can weigh the merit of Jim's opinions in the hard cold light of his reputation.
For example, Jim complains in his letter that "The Left have devastated rule of law — the very foundation of democracy...". But when he sued his former attorneys, Willmer Hale, the DC Federal Court of Appeals wrote that:
"[Pietrangelo] challenges virtually every ruling adverse to him, and presents claims which are discussed below and which, in our view, range from arguable to patently frivolous."
The judge who wrote the opinion, who is now the chief justice of the DC Federal Circuit, had this to say about Jim's conduct:
"We agree with WilmerHale that Pietrangelo‘s conduct in this case and at trial was a shocking abuse of the judicial system..."
She went on to opine that:
"Where a party engages in contumacious behavior, utterly inconsistent with the orderly administration of justice, such as Pietrangelo did here, dismissal is an appropriate sanction....."
I'll hand it to Pietrangelo in this way. He may be a village idiot with extreme views, but at least he has the courage to tell people who is voicing them. Anyone with a computer can easily find out that he's the village idiot.
I think "Don't Ask - Don't Tell" was a deeply flawed policy. When Jim chained himself to the White House gates while in uniform to protest it, he demonstrated his crazy streak, even when taking a rational position! I'll admit that took courage (of the stupid variety).
I've never been sanctioned, much less has a judge roll out an SAT word like "contumacious" to describe me!
In the case of MEPD, no one should believe that wearing a mask makes him either a super hero or smart. MEPD (retired, pathetic and anonymous) is just a coward.
I'm honored by your specific "shout-out". I'd think if I were as cowardly or pathetic as you believe me to be, I wouldn't even be worth recognizing or addressing.
I apparently have stepped on a few raw nerves of the perennial "smart" Liberals that lurk these pages. And that's just fine with me.
I will remain anonymous as long as the crazies DOX and openly harass those that don't agree with them. And, I will continue to point out the flaws, hypocrisy, and lies of your positions as long as you keep printing them.
It's the least I can do...
BTW, using your name on a Liberal rag sheet isn't brave when you are surrounded by like-minded individuals who agree with you and back you up. It's merely confirmation bias.
Thank you, Bill Scott. We are all grateful to you for pointing out sone of Jim Pietrangelo’s many public failings. He has zero credibility, as do those anonymous supporters of his that cowardly attempt to gaslight us. Fortunately, their deplorable rants are at least
Pietrangelo spews in the usual way here - let's take a critical look.
* He adopts the novel approach that the existence of a debate somehow clouds the truth. He's made a habit of this in his outrageous pro se litigation over the years, and attempts to apply it to the Big Lie.
* He adds some stuff that makes you think he might be a lawyer (indeed, he once was but I don't see him registered in any obvious place), but what lawyer would resort to unabashed whataboutism to prove his point. Hillary is irrelevant to the issue.
* He claims Democrats have "devastated the rule of law" in part by conducting "witch hunts" on TFG and with liberal immigration policy. The border is a fair issue to debate, but "witch hunts?" We'll see. I like Judge Carter's view that Trump likely committed several felonies, and the report issued this week by conservative Judge Luttig and prominent conservative lawyer Ted Olson (among others) refuting the Big Lie.
No, it is vexatious litigant JEP who has done the most to devastate the rule of law. I wonder why he no longer appears to be practicing.
Last year, he suggested that he was thinking about whether to sue me and the Sun about my fact laden "hit piece" on him. He's still thinking because there is no basis for such a lawsuit. He declared his desire to sue in a Trumpian attempt to muzzle me and the Sun.
Leave the Sun alone Jimmie, but for my part - "Bring it."
Confession: Rarely have I read a more hate-filled diatribe than this one. But let’s be clear…this “letter” is something many of us in the MWV have come to expect from Mr. Pietrangelo. So my regret is that knowing this, the CDS continues to post and print his unsubstantiated, hyperbolic and insulting opinions…such as when he claims “The Left have recasted the rule of law”. Really, Jim? Have you not been paying attention? And when he claims liberals “simply can’t stop talking about” The Big Lie…he somehow seems to have missed that the former disgraced, twice-impeached president remains the most outspoken public figure still whining about election fraud and his overwhelming election loss, which IS the big lie. Give us a break.
And yet you are doing the very thing that has just been pointed out to you.
I found no hate in this op/ed. Just a clearly and concisely written letter pointing out the obvious flaws of a lot of the Left-leaning, overwhelming and over-represented tripe that we are forced to endure.
I only wish the CDS would print more countervailing pieces to balance things out.
Dear “MEPD Ret”: it’s so nice to hear opposing views from someone who wishes to debate anonymously. That fact alone diminishes your credibility, not to mention your cognitive dissonance. Fess up, and pay closer attention, if you can.

Really Bill? You're resorting to trolling now?
