Fall is the best time for year to read a book. It’s always a good idea to take a break from absorbing your entertainment and information electronically, but the mellowness of autumn just fits with the act of reading. Rather than leave you on your own in selecting your texts, I have taken the time to spell out this season’s Great Books curriculum for your reading pleasure.
Let’s do the fun stuff first. New Hampshire author (and son of Madison residents) Dan Brown has been ensconced on top of the New York Times best seller list for months with the inventive puzzler "The Da Vinci Code". Since "Conway Daily Sun" pages are so often filled with angry letters defending various religious perspectives, I feel obliged to tell you that the premise of the story involves a fairly creative interpretation of early Christianity, as well as its current state. If you can handle a challenge to traditional religious history, "The Da Vinci Code" has action, mystery, history and a surprise ending. When you need a break from chopping wood, this is it.
