At approximately 6:30 PM yesterday, Fish and Game received a call from State Police Troop F regarding a distressed hiker above tree line on Mt. Madison. He was yelling for help from the next ridge over from the Daniel Webster Trail were two other hikers heard him. They were able to reach him and call 911. The victim was identified as Michael Moylan 66 years old of Garden Terrace, New Jersey. He had been hiking with his brother. They had left from Pinkham Notch at 7:05 AM and planned to summit Mt. Madison, staying over at the AMC Madison Spring Hut on western side of Mt. Madison. Moylan's brother had left him because he was hiking at a slower pace and planned on reuniting with him a t The AMC hut. Moylan took a wrong turn above tree line and got off the trail. Several storms came through with heavy rain soaking Moylan adding to his problems. When the other hikers got to him they believed he had hypothermia. They were able to assist Moylan down the mountain as were intercepted by a Fish and Game-AMC rescue team. By the time Moylan had reached the bottom of the mountain at 2:00 AM he was warm and did not need medical attention.
