BERLIN — The school board’s proposed 2020-21 budget was declared dead on arrival Monday night but Mayor Paul Grenier assured school officials the city council will work with them to come up with a budget that all sides can live with.

The board is requesting a general fund budget of $20.3 million, up 11 percent or $2,048,121. The board is also seeking $475,000 in capital improvement items after not spending any money on such improvements in the current budget.
