GORHAM — Away from the national press and adoring supporters, presidential hopeful Beto O’Rourke spent an hour Wednesday learning about the concerns and issues facing northern New Hampshire.

In an unadvertised stop at White Mountain Cafe and Bookstore, O’Rourke sat with about a dozen local activists and discussed how rural regions like Coos County are suffering in the current economy.
