ERROL — Strategic planning combined with good luck has led to outstanding results in the first two weeks of what will be a four-week-long N. H. State Conservation and Rescue Archaeology Program field school at Mollidgewock State Park and Campground, about 3 miles south of this small village on Route 16.

The 48-acre campground is located within the Thirteen-Mile Woods Scenic Area where the north-flowing Mollidgewock Brook joins the Androscoggin, one of New England’s longest rivers. The Androscoggin River would have served as a transportation corridor for the region’s early nomadic hunter-gatherers, providing access to fresh water as well as plant, fish, bird and animal resources.
