ANDROSCOGGIN VALLEY — The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has extended the licenses of the eight hydroelectric plants on the Androscoggin River between Berlin and Shelburne while the relicensing process continues.

The licenses were set to expire July 31, 2024, but FERC has extended them from Aug. 1 through July 31, 2025, or until a decision is made on the pending applications. The notice of authorization, which was issued Aug. 23, states the owners must operate the plants under the terms of the prior licenses until there is a decision.
