GORHAM — Two factors — the selectmen hiring an interim town manager and the board negotiating a new police union contract that won swift approval at the March town meeting — appear to the have sparked the town’s department heads to seek a review of town employee benefits as part of a review of the town’s personnel policy.

Director of Finance and Administration Denise Vallee explained in the third hour of the June 11 meeting that she had been asked to serve as the spokesperson for this supervisory group. She quietly noted that some policies, including the one that sets employees’ accumulated longevity benefits, have not been adjusted upward in the 23 years she has worked for the municipality.
