BERLIN – The city council is proposing that Bickford Place Park close for public use every night at 10 p.m. unless there is a city-approved event underway. Smoking will also be banned in the small pocket park in the downtown.

The council Monday night held a first reading of an amendment to the city ordinance to reflect the Bickford Place Park smoking ban and night curfew. A public hearing on the amendment will be held at the Oct. 15 council meeting.
