BERLIN – The city council Monday night picked a new resident of the city with a fresh perspective and a demonstrated interest in city government to fill the council vacancy created by the resignation of Dori Ducharme.

The council selected Paula Benski who moved to Berlin just over a year ago after vacationing here for a while with her husband. Benski was one of two candidates who submitted letters of interest in the vacancy. Claude Pigeon, who grew up in Berlin and once worked in Community Development here, also interviewed for the seat.
