WCU Patriots fighting for freedom from cancer!

The WCU ‘Patriots’ are kicking off their fundraising efforts to benefit the American Cancer Society for the Relay for Life with the selling of raffle tickets for a special quilt. A project begun last year, the quilt is comprised of squares in memory or in honor of a loved that has faced cancer – some stitched with names and others creatively designed. Raffle tickets will be for sale, $2 for one or $5 for three, at all WCU branches beginning May 1st. Fran Wolf of Fabrications by Fran in Gorham generously donated her talents and materials for the quilt. So much of this moving and inspirational quilt is due to Fran’s and Stephanie Seguin’s efforts and we are ever so grateful for their contributions. The completed quilt will be displayed alternating between the Berlin and Gorham Woodlands Credit Union lobbies. The drawing will be held 9pm, June 19th at the Relay for Life event at the White Mountains Community College. All proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society through the Relay for Life.

Other FUNdraising efforts for this year are taking place at each Woodlands Credit Union. They include sales of luminaria to recognize the memory, or to honor, a loved one affected by cancer. A car wash will be held May 16th - details will be announced later. WCU Penny Wars (a friendly battle!) will begin May 1st. If you’d like to donate pennies to help your favorite WCU work, bring them in anytime in May. Other coin donations will be accepted as well. There will be bake sales on Fridays in June in the Berlin office and a silent auction open to the members and the public from June 8 - 12th in Berlin. A 50/50 raffle will be held as well with the drawing on Wednesday June 17th Tickets at $1 each or 10 for $5, are available at all branch offices beginning May 20th.
