The Berlin Water Works announced Wednesday, May 11, that there will not be a rate increase in water rates in fiscal year 2006. This is the seventh consecutive year that the Board of Water Commissioners has not raised water rates. The last water rate increase was in 1998.

The operating costs for the Water Works has increased in the following areas; labor, salaries, health insurance, energy, regulation compliance, and debt payments. At the same time, the customer base has decreased.
