Memorial Hospital’s 'Heart Health and Wellness Services' celebrates 20 years

NORTH CONWAY — Starting in 1995, under the title "Heart Helpers Program," Memorial Hospital’s heart health and wellness center began providing care to their community members aimed at helping them to recover from and manage cardiovascular disease.

The program provided support to patients and families. The program was made possible by the success of the hospital's 1995 annual appeal campaign, which yielded $52,000. In March of 1996, 22 patients completed the program. In February of 1996, the Phase III: Cardiac Conditioning Program was started to provide a quality transition of care for patients who completed outpatient cardiac rehabilitation to a community-based exercise program. This program allowed patients to continue their exercise and cardiac risk factor reduction in a safe and supportive setting after they "graduated" from cardiac rehabilitation.
