PINKHAM NOTCH - It was a weekend when size mattered on the Mt. Washington Auto Road, as more than 1,000 Mini Coopers and ATVs of all shapes took over the Northeast's highest peak for a drive to the summit. These annual events draw participants from around New England and beyond, as the Auto Road closes to all general traffic while these groups take on the same road that has thrilled visitors since 1861.

The Mini Cooper group, which only comes together annually for this event, has raised more than $95,000 over the 11 years since the "Minis on Top" event began in 2003. These funds have been used to help support a variety of causes, predominantly the Mount Washington Observatory and Make a Wish NH. "Right from the beginning when minis were introduced in 2002, the owners have always had great enthusiasm for the vehicles and the opportunity to get together with like minded motorers...it's a great added bonus to be able to spend time in the White Mountains and raise funds for a great cause," said event co-organizer Richard Freierman, who ran the event with co-organizer Sarah Curtis.
