ERROL -- Mr. Leon R. Durant, 70, of Akers Pond, Errol, and Arcadia, FL passed away on Sunday October 3, 2010 at his home with his family by his side after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Berlin on August 18, 1940, the son of Frank W. and Laura A. (Laflamme) Durant and lived most of his life in Berlin, residing in Errol for the past seven years. He graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1959 and had worked at Granite State Rubber Co., Brown Company Woods ...ERROL -- Mr. Leon R. Durant, 70, of Akers Pond, Errol, and Arcadia, FL passed away on Sunday October 3, 2010 at his home with his family by his side after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Berlin on August 18, 1940, the son of Frank W. and Laura A. (Laflamme) Durant and lived most of his life in Berlin, residing in Errol for the past seven years. He graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1959 and had worked at Granite State Rubber Co., Brown Company Woods Department and was a civil service technician for 10 years. He served in the Army National Guard from 1959 to 1996 where he served full-time from 1981-1996. Leon loved hunting and fishing and was a former director for the Androscoggin Valley Fish and Game Association.
Members of the family include his wife of 49 years, Louise (Boucher) Durant of Errol, and Arcadia, Fla.; one son, Michael Durant and wife Lisa of Madison, AL; one daughter, Mary Ellen Ryan and husband William of Swanzey; seven grandchildren, Joe, Joey, Christopher, Dena, Taylor, Michael and Riley; one brother, David Durant of Berlin; four sisters, Lucille Silts of Berlin, Louise Walsh of The Villages, Fla., Linda Porter of The Villages, Fla. and Essex, Vt., and Patricia Poulin of The Villages, Fla.; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and three brothers Leo, Raymond and Richard.
