Tents from various organizations like Tri-County Commmunity Action, White Horse Recovery, the Way Station, Carroll County Coalition for Public Health and more fill the lawn between the Way Station and the Lutheran Church of the Nativity in North Conway Village for a "resource fair" on Aug. 22. According to Way Station Development Director Karen Albert, the organizations involved let their client base know about the fair, which also included free lunch, so that the people could check out all the resources available to them in the region in one place. The resource fair for the homeless community was the brainchild of Joy Gagnon, UNH Cooperative Extension teacher. (COURTESY PHOTO)
CONWAY — After years of imagining a day when the agencies of Carroll County could get together to share their resources in one central place, Joy Gagnon, UNH Cooperative Extension Teacher of Carroll County, Health and Well-Being/Nutrition Connections, finally made her vision come true with a successful Resource Day hosted in North Conway on Aug. 22.
“This has been a goal of mine to provide a service day where members of our homeless community could come to a central location, meet their local service providers and learn about the services they need to thrive,” said Gagnon. She contacted Dan Lavigne, Way Station’s client coordinator, to ask if he could help.
