BERLIN — Local health care providers are reporting a significant increase in respiratory illnesses with some facilities putting masking requirements in place. Emergency rooms and clinics were reported busy over the holidays with cases of influenza, COVID-19, and Respiratory Syncytial Virus.

Coos County Family Health Services CEO Ken Gordon said the high numbers of people seeking treatment at a holiday time when they would rather not be dealing with health care was an indication that rates are high in the community.
