GORHAM — Gorham Middle and High School held an American Cancer Society Relay For Life on Friday, May 18, to educate students on healthy habits to improve overall health and prevent cancer. The relay school program teaches students and their families how to make healthy choices about nutrition, physical activity, sun safety, and tobacco and alcohol prevention. The program also offers students an opportunity to make a contribution to society, and learn the importance of community service.
The event raised almost $2,100 and fundraising is still underway. The Gorham Middle and High School has been a part of Relay For Life since 2007 and has raised more than $69,000 in that time. Funds raised help the American Cancer Society attack cancer in dozens of ways, each of them critical to achieving a world without cancer — from developing breakthrough therapies to building supportive communities, from providing empowering resources to deploying activists to raise awareness.
