Being a licensed used car dealer opens up avenues of buying cars and trucks unavailable to most. Wholesale auctions are the perceived Valhalla of the car buying public where it’s assumed the sun is always shining and cheap, shiny vehicles are lined up waiting for ridiculously low bidders dressed in plaid sport coats. Alas, such is not reality and the post-COVID market has had a tough time rebounding.
An alternative is the private party sale. These can be a source of acquiring a decent used vehicle at a fair price, often with a vehicle history or at least an ownership background. Of course, there are challenges, including dealing with unknown sellers and having to drive a distance to look at a vehicle which may or may not be as described.
