LITTLETON — The Julian Gerstin Sextet will be playing at the Loading Dock, 35 Mill Street in Littleton on June 2 from 8-10 p.m. Advanced tickets are available on Eventbrite, at the door on the day of the show, the doors open at 7:30 p.m..

Julian Gerstin sits on his drum, playing with both hands and one foot, pressing with his heel to change the sound, higher and lower. The drum is a tanbou from the Caribbean island of Martinique. You’re not likely to hear it outside of that island, but in the Sextet, Gerstin has adapted it for jazz: clarinet and trumpet, piano and bass, drums and a whole lot of percussion.
