Carriage Lane Players to present play "Deathtrap," Feb. 26-27

COLEBROOK — Washed-up playwright Sydney Bruhl (Steve Bunnell) is locked up in the worst dry spell of his career, and would kill to have another hit play. Salvation comes in the mail in the form of a script written by a former student, Clifford Anderson (Tom Jordan). Recognizing a potential million dollar cash cow, Sidney and his wife Myra (Donna Jordan) devise a plan to collaborate with the novice writer—but how far will they go? Adding fuel to the fire, will their neighbor, the eccentric Dutch psychic Helga ten Dorp (Naomi Going) or Sidney’s crafty lawyer Porter Millgrim (John Quigley) discover Sidney’s increasingly devious plot?

Colebrook’s own theater group, the Carriage Lane Players, are back again with their next performance, Ira Levin’s thriller “Deathtrap.” Bunnell commands the stage portraying Sydney Bruhl, a successful writer who has had a string of flops and is about to collaborate with one of his former seminar students, Clifford Anderson (Tom Jordan). Sydney’s wife, Myra (Donna Jordan) grows suspicious and concerned as she sees her husband change from mentor to manipulator when he gets Clifford to come to their very secluded house to discuss Clifford’s new play, “Deathtrap.”
