High-energy misfits: What Cheer? Brigade and friends prepare to enliven August

PUNKS WITH HORNS! PUNKS WITH DRUMS! PUNKS WITH MORE HORNS! What Cheer? Brigade is in town and I guarantee you will not have more fun at a show this summer. Bombastic music influenced by a variety of different cultures and backgrounds is brought together with emphatic shouting and the kind of energy that you would expect from a hardcore act … but friendlier. A band of misfits from Rhode Island, these people are truly a portable party that SPACE might not be able to contain. The last time I saw them, they played a parade on Peaks Island that nearly packed the Lions Club on a sweaty summer day. As frantic and humid as that sounds, I am without a doubt ecstatic to see them again, and I want to see you there.

Playing with WC?B is digital gritty hardcore group Phallus Uber Alles from Portland. These folks blast sampled hell that seems like it would fit right in at a leather bar in early-’90s Berlin. Sampled drums underneath sampled guitar and distorted vocals seems like it was designed to be abrasively awesome. Bring earplugs for this one if you’re sensitive.
