Player of the Week Collin Varney

There is one word that immediately comes to mind when Lake Region varsity boys’ tennis Coach Joe Dorner thinks of Collin Varney — coachability! 

“Collin is one of the few players that has the correct mind for tennis. He internalizes the sport, takes suggestions at all times, and then applies it to the sport. Since he started his sophomore year to where he is now, he has developed one of the best natural swings, particularly his backhand that I have seen,” Coach Dorner said. “He has continually improved every step of the way going from where he was playing behind seniors on a doubles team his sophomore year to playing #3 singles his junior year to becoming the top player on the team this year.”
