GORHAM — The Gorham High School baseball team has proven itself a formidable force this season, finishing with an impressive 14-2 record. As the playoffs approach, critical games, including a significant victory against Littleton on May 22 and a crucial doubleheader sweep against Groveton on May 23, securing their third place ranking in the playoffs.
On May 22 Gorham faced Littleton, one of the top teams in the state, and clinched a 5-2 win solidifying their playoff seeding. The game, played in stifling heat, went the full seven innings. This was a rarity for the team since the majority of their games have ended early due to the "mercy rule." Isaac Langlois pitched all seven innings, yielding only four hits and striking out six. Despite a shaky start with Littleton scoring two runs in the bottom of the first, Langlois and the team quickly regrouped. A two-run hit by Gavin Corrigan in the top of the third inning rallied the team, and Langlois shut down Littleton's offense from that point on. The game was capped by a perfectly executed suicide squeeze by Brendan Saladino in the top of the seventh, allowing his brother Jack to bring in the fifth run.
