To the editor:

I’ve told a few people about the experience I had on Christmas Eve Day. Like lots of people, I was rushing around doing last-minute shopping for food and gifts. While pumping gas at the Circle K near Settlers Green, I overheard a young man ask another man if he could give him a jump. The young man’s battery had died. The young man was on the far side of the pumps, so I didn’t see him — but I heard him ask for a jump. He sounded young, late teens most likely. He sounded polite and respectful. The man said he didn’t have time and couldn’t help him. It was extremely busy that day at the Circle K.
