One of the highlights of the New England Ski Museum’s annual re-enactment of world-famous skier Hannes Schneider’s 1939 arrival in North Conway is how it gives local fourth-graders the opportunity to experience ski history first-hand, and to meet some of the people who’ve made it.

The re-enactment is followed by a chance to talk with skiing personalities, including local Olympians Tyler Palmer and Leanne Smith, both of Conway, and Sue (Long) Wemyss of Randolph, who gave insights into what it’s like to compete in the Olympics and what it takes to get there.
