CONCORD — Holding a photo of their late son Army Staff Sgt. Tanner W. Grone in his uniform, Gorham residents Erica and Steve Grone watched on May 19 as Gov. Kelly Ayotte at the Statehouse signed into law House Bill 1078, expanding the State’s Gold Star License Plate Program to include Gold Star Fathers and other immediate family members. The signing happened five days before Memorial Day, the date the nation honors the men and women who have died while on active military duty.

On Monday, at Memorial Day observances in Coos County, deceased military men and women were remembered for their service and sacrifice as attendees also likely thought of the military families left behind to mourn the loss of their loved one.
