COUNTY — The Coos County delegation has approved a 3 percent cost-of-living increase for the county’s elected positions, starting in the 2025-26 term. On top of the cost-of-living increase, the delegation approved a 7.5 percent increase in the sheriff’s salary and a 12.8 percent increase in the register of deeds salary, ruling those salaries were significantly lower than the state average for the positions.

At the same time, legislation to increase the length of terms of Coos County elected officials from two to four years has passed the House and is scheduled to come up for a vote in the Senate this week.
