JEFFERSON — With a grant provided by New Hampshire Humanities, the Jefferson Historical Society is hosting another US@250-themed program entitled “Unpacking the Declaration of Independence: What It Meant Then and Now.” Coming to the Jefferson Community Center at 178 Meadows Road, Jefferson, on Saturday, May 30, at 10:30 a.m., this latest show is the second in their series discussing important themes related to the founding of our nation in 1776.

Participants will learn about the text of the Declaration of Independence, who the key players were, the Enlightenment influence, and whether the values espoused in the Declaration are still relevant today. Participants will experience an unbiased look at the Declaration and receive valuable content to understand the influences and ideals of the document. They will be able to critically think about the document and have the knowledge of what it actually says. They will be able to form opinions and speak with conviction about what they learned.
