CONCORD — Thanks to the dedicated work of NH LAKES’ Lake Hosts, many of New Hampshire’s most popular and pristine lakes were protected from invasive species this summer. Invasive species — like milfoil and zebra mussels — don’t just make swimming and boating in our lakes dangerous and unpleasant; they harm our environment, property values, the local economy and tourism.

These unwanted plants and animals can travel from one lake to another by clinging to boats and trailers that haven’t been properly cleaned, drained and dried.
