LANCASTER — The state this month will lower the water level in both Little Bog Pond and Lower Trio Pond in Nash Stream State Forest in preparation for replacing the dams impounding the ponds next year. The aging wooden dams date back to log drive days and the state plans to replace them with concrete structures. The state will also upgrade the road between the two remote ponds to accommodate the big cement trucks.

Camp owners and interested parties received a briefing on the reconstruction plans at a public information hearing held by N.H. Department of Environmental Services Dam Bureau Chief Engineer Corey J. Clark on Sept. 25 at the North Country Resource Center in Lancaster. About two dozen people, most camp owners, attended the presentation in-person and remotely.
