"109 Below" is the true story of a tragic and dramatic rescue attempt on Mount Washington. (COURTESY OF ARC'TERYX)

RANDOLPH — The Randolph Public Library will host a special screening of “109 Below: The True Cost of Search and Rescue” on Friday at the Randolph Town Hall.

This short documentary tells the tale of resilience and grit as rescue volunteers go to save the lives of strangers. An attempted rescue on Mount Washington in 1982 changed not only the course of two climbers' lives but also the lives of the rescuers who attempted to save them — and the future of prosthetics — forever.
