ARRIVAL

Eurydice (Erica Murphy) arrives in the underworld by rainy elevator. Her suitcase is empty. When she opens her mouth: only a hum. The elevator’s rain, a christening for all the newly dead, has left her without language, without memory. The Stones that guard the gate (Hannah Daly, Ella Mock, and Casey Turner) are supposed to enforce the rules of the Lord of the Underworld (Khalil LeSaldo), which allow no books, no houses, no word for father or husband, for any forms the dead have left among the living. But when Eurydice finds her father (Sean Ramey) — who is also dead, but, as the Stones say, a little “subversive” — he helps her remember the words for Eurydice, for father, and for Orpheus, her husband (Nolan Ellsworth), the man who sends her letters by worm and, finally, journeys below to find her.
