PINKHAM NOTCH — The North Conway man who was killed in a skiing accident Monday while participating in the 12th annual 100,000 Vertical Foot Challenge at Wildcat Mountain lost control at the bottom of the Lower Polecat Trail after one of his skis released, said Trooper Shawn Torsey of State Police Troop F in Twin Mountain.

Sam Moore, 34, of Ash Street of North Conway, was a ceramics engineer at Ceramco Inc. of Center Conway. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
