BETHEL, Maine — Caroleen "Mac" Dudley of Oquossoc, Me., who edited and annotated her grandmother’s handwritten recollections so they could be published, will launch this just-released book from 1-6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14, in the Mason House exhibit hall at 14 Broad St., part of the Bethel Historical Society.

“Where the Wild River Flows: A U.S. Forest Guard’s Work and Family Life in the White Mountain Forest, 1926 to 1937” preserves the remarkable story of the life that her grandparents — Mildred Richardson and her husband, Alva — lived for 11 years, mostly in the Wild River Valley.
