LOW AND BURBANK’S GRANT — A hiker was rescued in the vicintiy Mount Madison Wednesday after setting off an emergency locator beacon.
Rescuers found Andrew Carlson of Madeira Beach, Fla., at about 1:40 p.m., about four and a half hours after he set off the beacon, huddled underneath the Madison Spring Hut, where he had taken refuge from an early winter storm that dropped as much as 3 feet of snow on the summits in the Presidential Range.
