JEFFERSON — An employee at Santa’s Village theme park was seriously injured on an amusement ride Saturday.

The State Fire Marshal office said a 51-year-old man was the sole operator of the Poogee Penguins Spin Out Coaster when he suddenly fell off a platform while the roller coaster ride was in motion. The victim was hit by one of the coaster trains and fell 6 to eight feet to the ground. The operator suffered serious injuries and was taken to an area hospital for treatment. He remained in the hospital Sunday.
