BERLIN — A proposal to convert the vacant and former Northland Restaurant and Dairy Bar into a charitable gaming site with a 42-seat restaurant emerged from the July 7 planning board meeting.

Pamela Laflamme, director of strategic initiatives for the city and assistant city manager, said the conversation on this idea may take place at the next planning board meeting on Aug. 4 or at the board’s September meeting. By state statute, municipal planning boards meet once a month.
