SARGENT’S PURCHASE — On Sunday evening, search and rescue personnel worked to assist a young man who was caught in windblown snow with a dying light and cell phone near the summit of Mount Washington.

In a news release about the rescue, New Hampshire Fish and Game Department said winter has come to the White Mountains and hikers need to be prepared and know what conditions to expect.
