BERLIN — Like the entire community, we are saddened by the tragic loss of Ms. Fuentes Huaracha. We are reviewing our own practices and procedures to determine whether there are steps we can take to prevent such incidents from ever happening again here in Berlin.

This review is in part due to a call for service that was received the morning of July 4, 2025. The call received by the department was in “reference to a “check welfare” of Michael Gleason and Sandra Marisol Fuentes Huaracha. The caller reported that Mr. Gleason had made concerning comments in reference to the well-being of Ms. Fuentes Huaracha and himself. We are currently reviewing the call and conducting an internal investigation into the response to this call and any other calls involving Ms. Fuentes Huaracha. The New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office has been notified. In line with the public’s interests and transparency, we are notifying the public of this matter and investigation. No other information can be released at this time.
