The city council Monday night decided it wanted more information on other bidders before entering into another five year assessing contract with Avitar Associates.

Board of Assessors Chair Jonathan Edwards said the board received four proposals for assessing service and is recommending the city accept Avitar’s proposal. Edwards said while Avitar’s proposal was not the lowest, it has been the city’s assessing firm since 1999 and the board is pleased with its work.
