BERLIN – The city council last week approved a new two-year contract with the Teamsters Union representing department heads.

The contract, which is effective July 1, provides department heads with a two percent raise for both fiscal year 2013 and fiscal year 2014. The cost of the raise is offset, however, by changes in health insurance with department heads accepting higher co-payments and a deductible.
