BERLIN -- The U.S. Senate yesterday passed an appropriations bill that would fund opening the federal prison in Berlin.

U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen reported the Senate voted 69-30 to pass the Commerce, Justice and Science appropriations bill. The bill includes $6.6 billion in funding for the Bureau of Prisons and specifically prioritizes funding for the Berlin prison and two others that are completed but awaiting funding to open.
