BERLIN — The company hired to construct and operate a landfill gas-to-energy plant at the Mount Carberry landfill has been given a three-month extension to make an initial $10 million payment to the Androscoggin Valley Regional Refuse Disposal District.

After a lengthy process, the district in December 2024 signed a 20-year agreement with Northern BioGas, a global firm with extensive portfolios in renewable energy facilities.
