WHITEFIELD — Weathervane Theatre has announced it will present “Rent”— the groundbreaking musical that redefined a generation. Brilliant and messy, this all-new production of the beloved musical will open on July 15.

Set against the gritty pulse of New York City’s East Village, “Rent” is a revolutionary portrait of love, loss and hope. Based loosely on Puccini’s La Boheme, Jonathan Larson’s Pulitizer Prize-winning and electrifying rock musical follows a group of young artists chasing love, identity and creative freedom amid the AIDS crisis. Bursting with heart, humor and urgency, “Rent” celebrates connection and chosen family, powered by unforgettable songs like “Seasons of Love,” “La Vie Boheme,” and “Take Me or Leave Me.”
