Memorial Hospital President Art Mathisen gives an update on the hospital's vaccination clinic during a Zoom meeting Feb. 12. (TERRY LEAVITT SCREENSHOT)

CONWAY — After the first full week of vaccinations at its North Conway clinic, Memorial Hospital officials say the process is working, but one snag has been the handful of people who show up at the hospital’s clinic at the former Weather Discovery Center in North Conway, hoping there will be vaccine left over at the end of the day and that they will be able to get a shot.

Officials say that will not happen, and they are trying to discourage the practice.

[unsure]Unless I am wrong about this and someone would like to tell me otherwise be my guest. I was told yesterday that 1B for healthcare providers(I am a live in care provider for my Dad) is only for those health care providers, who are dealing with special needs kids, kids with a chronic disability, or kids that have an ongoing health issue, say like diabetes, or asthma. I was told this yesterday at Huggins hospital while taking my Dad to get his second COVID shot. Foolish me I thought that I would be bumped up because I am caring for an eighty nine year old man. I asked this of several of my representatives as I email them, this includes Gov. Sununu and the Commissioner. I will ask the same question here. Two questions actually. Why didn't they include both sets of groups for 1B? Question 2 is this, If I manage to contract COVID by some fluke(I am social distancing and double masking.) who takes care of my Dad if I DIE in a hospital of COVID. I am sure some will think I am being melodramatic here, but I am not. These are questions I posed from Gov Sununu. I got some form email back from him, which I know was probably written by some staff member and then some sort of algorithm was put together and it was sent to a bin that has to do with questions on vaccines. I don't expect to hear from the Governor Directly, although I do have a good mind to call his office and say my peace about this. Rant done.
