OSSIPEE — A Carroll County Superior Court judge rejected business owner Ed Furlong's motion to have Bartlett Selectman Gene Chandler held in default in Furlong's lawsuit. But the judge also warned Chandler's attorney that Chandler himself needs to appear at future hearings.

Furlong, who owns Lil' Man Snowmobile Rentals Inc. and Starbrite Leasing Inc. in Bartlett, alleges that Chandler is involved in a long-running conspiracy to undermine his snowmobile business. He seeks to have Chandler removed from office or have him disqualified from any decisions pertaining to Furlong's businesses on an ongoing and retroactive basis.
