CONWAY — The Kennett High volleyball team hopes to take the next step as a program this fall. The Eagles have now made three consecutive playoff appearances, but have yet to advance beyond the first round. New head coach Danielle Shuler, who makes the jump from junior varsity to varsity this fall is optimistic about her team's chances and has been pleased with how preseason has gone.
The Eagles officially open their season on the road Friday with a trip to Dover where they'll play St. Thomas, a team they're a little familiar with. In 2011, Kennett, the No. 15 seeds, tried to fill the role of spoiler in the opening round of the Division II playoffs against No. 2 ranked St. Thomas. The Saints came out on top 3-0 (25-11, 25-9 and 25-17).
